Whiplash occurs when the head and neck are unexpectedly jolted quickly in one direction and then rebounded in the opposing direction. Subsequently, damage occurs in the form of misaligned spinal joints, brain concussions/contusions, and injured or torn nerves, muscles, tendons, discs, and other involved tissues.
Some whiplash patients heal quickly. Others may suffer long-term chronic pain and impairment. In fact, from 50% to as much as 80% of whiplash victims unfortunately continue to experience pain and disability for years following an accident.
Chiropractic care has been studied and proven to help. Care is geared at minimizing pain and inflammation, restoring joint alignment, aiding tissues to heal well, addressing active trigger points, strengthening weak structures, and correcting postural abnormalities that are responsible for poor healing.
